The Challenge_

A global leader in marine equipment design and manufacturing was looking to develop a user interface (UI) for satellite communication devices that would meet their customers’ high expectations.

The business wanted to create a solution that would enhance their reputation for quality, but to deliver the standards they were aiming for they needed to enlist additional technical support.

They identified the requirement for a development partner that could also provide support across the full scope of the project – from front-end design to backend communication enablement.

The Solution

Mobica were selected as the project partner due to our level of expertise in embedded systems and our ability to provide technical support across the full technology stack.

During this project we were responsible for the implementation of the web-based UI and the configuration of the satellite communication equipment. In order to meet the complex demands of this task, we assembled a UI team to operate in a scrum framework.

The team delivered the UI/UX design and developed the frontend with Angular 10 and Typescript and enabled communication with the device’s backend using REST and MQTT.

To ensure the quality of the build, we conducted unit testing with Karma and Jasmine.

THE RESULTS_

Mobica’s ability to deliver a standalone scrum team of professionals was invaluable to the success of the project.

Our experience in UI development with the Angular framework also gave our customer the technical expertise they needed to develop a satellite communication solution that met the standards they were striving for.

“The expertise supplied by Mobica was essential in the development of this product. But what was just as important was the close cooperation of the scrum team and our internal teams. We were delighted by the speed and flexibility shown and the ability of Mobica to deliver this project for us.”
